The Taichi is truly a bold new step for Asus, not only is it an Ultrabook that will feature Intel's 3rd generation 'Ivy Bridge' Core i7 processors, 4GB ram, dual-band 802.11n WiFi, and SSD storage. Its also a tablet with a full 1080p HD IPS (In-Plane Switching) touchscreen.
The Asus Taichi is a dual-screen device. Open it up and it's much like any Ultrabook, and not much different to the Asus Zenbook. Close the screen up, and the outside screen lights up with full touch-screen capability. You can, however, use both screens simultaneously.
Just like the Asus Zenbook series, the Taichi has a thin and sleek brushed-steel design, and it's very lightweight. The Taichi will be available in two configurations with 11.6 inch or 13.3 inch dual displays that will also feature dual cameras. And most importantly the Asus Taichi will be powered by Microsoft Windows 8, which its new Metro user interface is specifically designed for tablets and other touchscreen PC's. The Asus Taichi is expected to officially launch sometime in late 2012.
