The much overdue update to Apple's Mac Pro range is finally going to happen at the WWDC conference next week. It has been 2 long years since the Mac Pro got any attention, casting a grim shadow over the Mac Pro's future. But this report tells us that Apple isn't ready to drop it's professional desktop tower from its lineup.
The report comes from 9to5Mac, where 3 new retail numbers have been tracked for the Mac Pro. There will be 2 desktop versions and 1 server version.
The new Mac Pro lineup is to get the new Xeon E5 processors released in March, at least 2 Thunderbolt ports, and USB 3.0 ports. There have been reports that Apple have been prototyping a stackable and rackable Mac Pro. This is said to be a compromise between the Mac Pro and the discontinued Xserve. But more than likely the case design will remain the same. Apple has used this case design since 2005 when the introduced the PowerMac G5.
