Microsoft Tablet announced! Named Surface Tablet!

Microsoft have just unveiled their own tablet range on 18th of June in Los Angeles. The new tablet will come in two flavours; a consumer model -- named Surface for Windows RT, and a pro user model -- named Surface for Windows 8 Pro. For the very first time Microsoft will go head-to-head with many of its customers. Competing with companies like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Samsung, and many more.

Surface for Windows RT will be powered by an ARM processor made by NVIDIA, have a 10.6-inch ClearType HD capacitive touchpanel display, 32 or 64GB flash storage, microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video ports, will run Windows RT - which will restrict the user to Metro apps only, bundled with Office Home & Student 2013 RT software, and will be 9.3 millimeters thin.

Surface for Windows 8 Pro will include an Intel Core i5 (Ivy Bridge) processor, 10.6 inch ClearType 1080p Full HD capacitive touchpanel display, 64 or 128GB flash storage, microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, will run the full Windows 8 - this will allow the user to run Metro apps along with legacy desktop apps (this is due to the x86 processor being used), and the tablet will be slightly thicker than Surface or Windows RT at 13.5 millimetres.

It is unclear how much Microsoft's new tablets will cost, but we do know when they will launch. Surface for Windows RT will launch the same time as Windows 8, which will be around September/October 2012. Surface for Windows 8 Pro will be released 3 months later.
